Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Advice
Pharmacy First
If you are experiencing symptoms of a UTI, you can now access treatment through the NHS Pharmacy First service. Before contacting the surgery, please consider visiting your local pharmacy for advice and treatment. Pharmacists are trained to assess and treat UTIs, and they may provide you with antibiotics or other treatments, depending on your symptoms.
Common symptoms of a UTI include:
If you are under 65 and do not have symptoms requiring further medical attention, your pharmacist may be able to offer you advice and treatment directly.
When to Contact the Surgery:
If you are unable to access a pharmacy or if your symptoms are more severe, please contact the surgery by phone and bring a urine sample to the surgery by 11am. You will need to answer a few questions about your symptoms. Depending on your age and symptoms, your sample will either be tested by a Nurse or Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or sent to the laboratory for further testing. We will contact you with the results, and if necessary, you can collect antibiotics from the pharmacy.
For patients over 65: Please refer to this Patient Information Leaflet
If you do bring a sample to the surgery before 11am, please print and complete the form below and bring it with your sample. The sample must be in a sterile container.
